Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali was established in 2007 by the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The foundation stone was laid on 2006 by the Prime Minister of India.
The first Director Prof. N Sathyamurthy joined in 2007.
The transit campus was inaugurated in 2007.

IISER provides best research facilities to the students. The members of teaching staff are experts in the field of science and research.
Apart from this, the institute also provide basic amenities like library, computer center, medical facility and counseling sections which consists of one to one discussion with experts.
